Tutorial: Cute Reusable Snack Bag

(As I am sure you have noticed from the pictures, I am not a professional seamstress. But hey, if you wanna become one, you gotta start somewhere, right?)

I love reinventing/recycling old things. Here is a way cute way to store snacks, crackers, and even messy food like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.....because here's the great part, it is water tight and washable (hand wash only people, don't stick this sucker in the wash or dishwasher or it will most likely ruin it. lol). It also stands up on its own! Great for taking on trips in the car, or to church with snacks for the kids.

Tutorial:

Materials needed:

*Sewing machine....(or a needle and thread if you are feeling industrious)

*Scissors

*A reusable bag like this Gerber Graduates baggie (which i happen to love)

*Fabric of your choice,
(or you could even use contact paper....on second thought that might even work better..hmmm gonna have to try that next)

*Bias tape (if you want a clean finish on the edges)

Step #1Measure and cut two sides of material that will cover both sides of baggie. Then cut out a bottom piece that is the same size as the bottom. Tear apart the bottom, (pictured below) to be able to see how big to make the bottom piece, and it will need to be torn apart this way to sew the material on anyway.

Step #2

Sew the bottom piece onto the bottom part. You will have to sew half the side, then going around the long part and then going on half the other side. Flip it around and do the same on the other side.
Next sew the two big panels onto the bag. I like to fold the sides in before sewing to have a cleaner finish. When sewing down the side, continue sewing at the bottom so as to sew the bottom pieces together. This makes the bottom so that it will stand up on its own.

Step #3
When sewing the top of the panels to the bag, make sure you don't sew where the zipper part is.

Step #4

sew on the bias tape on the edges if so desired.

There you are finished!

I love my new magnets. I found some adorable 2x2 inch tile pieces and glued on magnets on the back. Super simple and cute.

Baby Shower Wax Diaper Favors

These are the party favors I made for my sis-in-laws baby shower I threw for her. I filled them with candy, placed them in a bag and finished them with a ribbon and tag.

How i made them? I cut a triangle out of flannel fabric and then dipped the triangle into melted paraffin wax. I then laid the triangle out on tin foil to let cool. When it is cooled but not hard, you can shape it into a diaper by folding bottom angle up and the two sides across. Then set it up so that the bottom molds a bit flat. This way it can sit up on its own. When fully cooled and hardened, poke in a safety pin in the front to hold it in place.

Tutorial on making rosette flower

Tutorial for making rosette flower

These are the basic materials you will need:

A 1-2 inch long piece of fabric
A glue gun and hot glue sticks
and a round piece of fabric

Make a knot in one end of the fabric

Place a dot of glue in the center of your circle of fabric. Your circle of fabric should be as big as you want to make the rosette.

Place the knot on the dot of glue.

Place a dot of hot glue on the side of the knot

Next twist the fabric and then wind it around where you put the hot glue. Then glue another dot and twist again and wind it around again where the glue is. (tip: if you run out a fabric and want to make it larger, just start another piece of fabric where you ran out )

Just keep twisting and gluing around, at this point you can either keep twisting the fabric really tight and in the end you will get a rosette looking like this:or you can start twisting a little more loosely and you will get the rosette in the image below.

Glue down the extra bit on the end underneath. You can either leave the rosette looking like this, or you can glue on some beads or a rhinestone in the middle.

Our finished rosette.

You can then glue a clip on the back and clip it onto a headband, or you can glue it directly onto a headband and place another small circle of fabric on the other side of the headband underneath the rosette to keep it in place.

Cute pom pom flower headband

Here is my latest flower headband creation. I just used the same technique as I used to make my fabric pom poms except I only did it 180 degrees instead of 360 degrees. I then glued on some cute pearl beads and a clip on the back. To see my tutorial for making the fabric pom poms click here.

Fabric Decor Balls

s

Here are some fabric decor balls that I created. I used the same technique that I used for the headbands for the rosette ball. The fuzzy one is actually crosshatched with the fabric but its hard to tell. Check out my tutorial on how to make some of these here.

The rosette ball is just a bunch of rosette flowers from my tutorial glued all around the ball. The spiral one is just twisted fabric glued in a spiral in the ball, where the crosshatched one is the spiral one, but just twisted back and forth across the ball in random ways.
